Scope and specification
A clear written scope is what makes quotes comparable. Define it before anyone prices the work, and keep one current version.
What a usable scope includes
- The rooms or areas affected and the work wanted in each.
- The drawings being priced, with their revision numbers.
- The finish level, with named products where you have chosen them.
- Items you will supply yourself, and items the builder supplies.
- Allowances or provisional sums, with what each is meant to cover.
- Access, working hours, waste removal and site protection.
- The date of this version, so every quote can refer to it.
