Privacy

The short version

Estiquote does not require an account. Estimates and Project Studio records are stored locally on your phone. The apps have no voice recording, remote AI service, advertising, tracking or behavioural profiling. The iPhone app and the website keep anonymous daily totals of a few actions, such as how many estimates were run, with nothing that identifies you or your device. The website sets no cookies. You can switch the app’s counts off on its Privacy page.

Information stored on your device

The app stores project choices, estimate results, contractor names you enter, written quote totals, trade markups, your selected country and an optional business logo in the app’s private storage on your phone. The system photo picker only provides the image you choose. This information remains on the device unless you choose to share a generated report, copy or device backup.

A postcode you type into the estimator stays on the device, where it chooses your region. It is never sent anywhere.

Project Studio also stores property details, written scopes, drawing revisions, notes, decisions, specifications, budget changes and copies of PDF or image documents you select. The system document picker lets you choose the files. Imported copies are not uploaded to an Estiquote server. The original may be held by a cloud-file provider, whose own terms apply to that original.

Local data may be included in device backups according to your Apple or Google backup settings. Estiquote does not provide its own cloud account or cross-device sync.

Country market data

Country pricing factors are bundled with Estiquote and work offline. The app does not send your selected country to the World Bank or another market-data provider.

Purchases

Apple (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android) processes Project Pass and Trade payments. The app receives only the verified product and purchase status it needs to unlock access on your device. Estiquote does not receive your payment-card details and does not keep purchase records on a server. Apple’s or Google’s privacy policy and store terms apply to those transactions.

Anonymous usage counts

From version 1.2.2, the iPhone app adds one to a daily total when it is opened, when onboarding is finished, when an estimate is run, when the membership screen is shown, when a purchase is started, completed or cancelled, when purchases are restored, when the share sheet is opened, and when an estiquote.co.uk link opens the app. Each count contains only the name of the action, a short label such as the project type (“loft”), the plan (“pass”) or the link route (“go/loft”), and the app version.

The app does not send any identifier for you or your phone, your postcode, your estimate figures, contractor names, quote amounts or anything you type. Counts cannot be linked to each other or to a person. The only thing the app remembers about counting is whether it has already counted its first opening on your phone.

You can stop the counts at any time with the “Share anonymous counts” switch on the app’s Privacy page (Membership, then Privacy).

The totals are stored with our database provider, Supabase, in London. Like any web service, its servers briefly log network details such as IP addresses to run and protect the service. Those logs are not combined with the totals and we do not use them to identify anyone. We use the totals to see which features help people and to improve Estiquote. We do not use them for advertising and we do not share them. Where any of this involves personal data, such as the network address your phone uses to reach our counter, we rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving Estiquote.

Estiquote in ChatGPT

If you use the Estiquote app inside ChatGPT, ChatGPT sends us only the details needed to answer your question: the type of project, its size and finish, the first half of a postcode or a region, and, for a quote check, the quote amount and whether it includes VAT. For a building control question it sends the council name. We use these details to calculate the answer and send it straight back.

We don’t receive your name, email address, ChatGPT account or the rest of your conversation, and we don’t store the details you send. For each answer we add one to an anonymous daily total, labelled with the project type, option and region, the quote verdict, or the council, so we can see how the app is used. Requests are handled by our hosting provider, Supabase, whose servers briefly log network details such as IP addresses to run and protect the service. OpenAI’s own privacy policy applies to your use of ChatGPT.

Sharing and PDF reports

When you tap Share, Estiquote creates a temporary PDF on the device and opens your phone’s share sheet. You decide which person or service receives it. A Trade client report can contain your project details, guide values, indicative client total and optional business logo, but it excludes your internal markup percentage, contractor names and saved comparison quotes.

A Project Studio pack is a different report: it can include property details, your scope, specifications, budget records, contractor comparisons and document references. Drawing files are not embedded in the pack. Check each report before sharing. A receiving service handles information under its own policies.

Deleting information

Delete a saved estimate in the app to remove that estimate, its quote entries and its saved markup. Remove the optional business logo from Client PDF branding. Project Studio records are separate and are not erased when a linked estimate is removed. This version does not provide individual deletion controls for Project Studio records or imported drawings.

Deleting the app removes its local data, including Project Studio records and imported copies, subject to any backups or copies you have kept elsewhere. Export anything you need first. The original files in your Files provider, previously shared reports and recipient copies are not deleted by Estiquote.

The website

The calculator at estiquote.co.uk runs in your browser. The website sets no cookies and uses no advertising trackers, and postcodes and quote amounts you type are not sent to us. It keeps anonymous daily totals in the same way as the app: each page view sends the page’s address without anything after the question mark, and, when you arrive from another website, that website’s name (for example google.com). It also counts the first use of a calculator on a page (with the project type), use of the quote checker, taps on App Store links and taps on the button for finding a local professional (with the project type and the price region, such as “south-east”). No cookie, browser storage or identifier is used, so visits cannot be linked together or to you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is counted. When you use Share this estimate or Copy link, the link carries your project choices (project type, size, finish, region, VAT setting and options, and on the builder’s estimate any rates you have changed) so the person you send it to sees the same figures. It never contains your postcode or a quote amount you typed. Anyone with the link can see those choices, and opening it sends the address to our hosting provider like any other page. Links from the Estiquote app in ChatGPT carry the same project choices only, never a quote amount or a postcode, so you type the quote in again on the page. The builder’s estimate tool can remember your own rates in your browser’s local storage on your device; they are never sent to us. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes standard request data such as your IP address and the pages you request so it can serve and protect the site. If you email us, we use your email only to reply.

Professional waitlist

Architects, technicians, engineers, surveyors and builders can join our waitlist at estiquote.co.uk/for-professionals to hear when the Estiquote map of local professionals opens in their area. The form asks for your business name, profession, the areas you cover and a contact email, and, if you choose to add them, your website, phone number, accreditations and a note. We also record the date you agreed and which page you came from.

We use these details only to contact you about joining the map, to understand where firms are ready to take on work, and to check your business before anything is published. Nothing you send is shown publicly or shared with homeowners until you have agreed to a listing. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing support@estiquote.co.uk, and we will then delete your entry. If the map has not opened in your area within 12 months of your sign up, we will delete your entry unless you ask us to keep it.

The details are stored with our database provider, Supabase, in London. A copy is also kept by our website host, Netlify, which emails each sign up to our support inbox; Netlify may process it outside the UK under the safeguards in its data processing terms. Only Estiquote can read your details. We do not sell them or use them for advertising.
