How Estiquote estimates work
An early estimate is useful when you understand its assumptions. This page explains the model behind the live Estiquote app and where you need project-specific evidence.
What changes your estimate?
The current estimator starts with an Estiquote UK guide baseline for the selected work category. Project size, finish level and area type adjust the guide. Relevant extras add planning allowances that vary with the project type and size.
The result is a low-to-high range with a planning midpoint. The midpoint is not a promised contract price. Saved estimates retain their calculated totals and market context.
Country adjustment is not local construction price research
For supported country data, Estiquote uses bundled World Bank economy-wide purchasing-power and currency information to translate the guide. Where data is unavailable, the app identifies its currency or global fallback. These bundled factors allow estimating to work offline.
Economy-wide purchasing power is not a construction price index. It does not establish what a particular supplier charges for a brick, what your local builder charges for labour, or whether a local building method matches the UK baseline. Country availability should not be read as a claim that every market has equally detailed local evidence. Confirm site and market conditions through local professionals and written quotations.
Materials and units
The selected country changes displayed currency and supported construction units. US project areas use square feet; the UK and most other supported markets use square metres. Room-based work uses a room count.
The materials guide converts supported equivalent quantities, including US material units. Local pack sizes, specifications, delivery charges and supplier pricing can differ. A material guide entry is not an offer to supply or a live stock price.
What the detailed breakdown means
Project Pass unlocks the active project’s schedule of works, labour and materials breakdown, allowances, assumptions and PDF. The sections allocate the modelled budget; they are not quantities measured from drawings or independently priced tender items.
Trade adds professional tools such as markup, branded client PDFs and manual comparison of written quote totals. A guide comparison does not certify a builder or check a quote’s full wording.
What to check outside the headline range
- Tax: the estimate excludes tax. Confirm the applicable treatment for your project.
- Contingency: the displayed amount to hold is separate from the planning range.
- Scope: review the assumptions and allowances for what is included and what is not.
- Site conditions: access, ground, existing structure and services may need investigation.
- Professional work: design, approvals and specialist advice must be confirmed for your circumstances.
How the current app handles project information
No Estiquote account is required. The current app stores estimates, quote entries and optional business logos locally on the iPhone. Apple handles in-app purchases. Restoring a purchase restores eligible access; it is not the same as restoring deleted local project files. Read the privacy policy and support guidance.
Help us improve the evidence
If a result appears inconsistent, contact Estiquote support with the project category, country, area, specification and the issue you noticed. Omit names, full addresses and confidential quotation documents from an initial message.
