What drives the cost
- Number and size of windows. More, and larger, windows cost more.
- Frame material. uPVC is cheapest; timber and aluminium cost more.
- Glazing. Triple glazing and acoustic glass add cost.
Planning, regulations and VAT
Replacement windows must meet building regulations. Use an installer registered with a competent person scheme such as FENSA or Certass, who will certify the work. Double glazing is charged at the standard 20% VAT rate.
